DEPEND® Belted Shields

DEPEND® Belted Shields are specially designed to provide superior protection and a comfortable fit for moderate to heavy bladder control problems. Elastic straps with buttons hold DEPEND® Belted Shields securely in place and let you put on the product without completely taking off your clothes.

Important Tips

  • Button straps are individually wrapped and are located inside the belted shield package in the pink pouch.
  • Clean your groin and buttocks thoroughly after removing a belted shield.
  • Dispose of soiled belted shields in a sanitary manner. Do not flush.
  • Wash hands after handling soiled belted shields.
  • Seek professional advice from your physician or health care professional if you or someone you care for is experiencing bladder control problems.

To Put DEPEND® Belted Shields On While Sitting

Identify the inside and outside of the product.

  • The inside (side placed against your skin) has a white absorbent layer.
  • The outside of the belted shield has a moisture-proof outer cover and green buttonhole reinforcement tape.

Note: The front and back of the belted shield are the same.

Rise to a standing position.

Place the unfolded belted shield on the surface of a chair with the white patterned inside facing up.

Sit down on the center of the belted shield.

Bring the front of the belted shield up between your legs. The front and back edges of the belted shield should be pulled to equal heights on the front and back toward your waistline.

Attach the elastic straps to the back button holes of the belted shield. Insert the button from the inside of the belted shield so they show on the outside – away from your skin. Make sure the straps are not twisted.

  • Position for a close fit by pulling the elastic straps toward your waistline, making sure heights on the front and back of the belted shield are equal.
  • Elastic straps should be angled slightly upward, over your hips.
  • Make sure the straps are not twisted.
  • Move any folds of skin - especially on your inner thigh - to prevent leaking and chafing.
  • Save elastic straps for reuse. To clean elastic straps, hand wash in mild detergent and hang to dry. Packages of DEPEND® Belted Shields include two pairs of elastic straps.
  • Note for men: be sure that your penis is pointing down into the belted shield.
