Are you planning on getting the vaccine when it comes out mid October?

I'm on the priority list for flu vaccine each fall. I'll need to contact my PCP's office to learn what changes, if any, will occur this season.

I'm not....I'd rather just let everyone else who really needs it get it. I worry about vaccine resistant viruses.

I am still debating, I am not a critical candidate and
I am kind of fearful of it still.

I am like KCWW, I let everyone else get it that needs it. I myself would have to be laid up in the hospital before I take any vaccine.

I'm so surprised at the response to the H1N1 vaccine in the above posts. I assumed everyone would want to get it. I was wrong.
Today it was announced that it may just take one shot, not two, to gain some protection from the virus.

I'm getting my seasonal flu shot today. Are there some reading this post who don't ever get the seasonal flu shot? And, why not? Just curious.

My wife does not get the flu vaccine, even though she's an elementary teacher, because a shot put her into anaphylactic shock once, which nearly killed her. That was a scary time for both of us, and we won't get her a shot until the doctor gives permission.

I really think vaccines are "scary", not enough information. I have always been leary of them & have been innoculat

I really still think vaccines are "scary", not enough information. I have always been leary of them & have been innoculated by my internist. However, this year @ Walgreen's due to the fact that #1 I have never had a problem & #2 we'll be ot of twon 'til the end of November & hopefully not in touch with the doctor.
My sister became very ill from a flu shot & I probably will always have misgivings !Sorry I goofed the first post.

I don't even concern myself with such issues. I never take the regular flu shot. I think all this hype creates hysteria. If their is a pandemic, then it must dealt with in a much more calm environment, which is not being exampled by some professional organizations at the moment.

I know for a fact that the seasonal flu shots-this year and every year--are inactive. You cannot get the flu from it. I don't even get a sore arm.
However, we are all asked if we have any allergies to certain things, such as eggs, and if we are not a candidate for the shot, it won't be given.
It is different with the flu given in the mist form. This is an active vaccine and we must be well to get it.
Every doctor I know gets the seasonal flu shot and recommends it. I hope the flu passes by every person's home who reads these posts!

Has anyone received the shingles shot??
My doctor recommends it to all over the age of 60.
What do you think? Has anyone had shingles? Is it horrible?

I have a notation in my datebook to remind my Dr. to give it to me @ my semi annual checkup in Dec. I know people who have had shingles, young & Old & it can be absolutely terrible.

My husband and I will get the H1N1 shot along with the shot for the regular flu. Our 25 years old who lives in Chicago more than likely had it along with Pneumonia. We had a temp of 104.1 with fever reducers. It was pretty scary. Our Dr. wrote us a scrip for Tamiflu which we did take as a preventative.

Ages 6 months to 9 years old get two H1N1 flu shots, and
ages 10 and over get one shot.

Are you kidding me? The h1n1 isnt even as deadly as the seasonal flu, just more media coverage. Have any of you reaserched what is in this vaccine? Ever heard of Gulf War syndrome? Same stuff, and where did this h1n1 virus come from? Look at the facts and only the facts not opinions. May the Lord bless every hair upon your heads and fill your cups till they run over Amen.

You must be making a joke.
The H1N1 vaccine has nothing to do with the Gulf War Syndrome. If you have some facts not made public, then please state your facts and where they come from. It is not nice to scare people with off hand remarks.
If the H1N1 flu had been known about earlier last year, then the vaccine would have been put in the seasonal flu shot and we would have not had these conversations. If you get one, it doesn't make sense to not get the other.

I saw on the news that some inmates have been given the H1N1 vaccine, yet there isn't enough presently for babys- something is very wrong here.

I agree, babies need their vaccine & if I am not mistaken inmates have given up some of their rights by offending others ina criminal way
